BPP Hospitality Interview

BPP University is known as ‘The University for the Professions’ and have recently launched their Hospitality Degree qualifications. I was delighted to be invited to carry out a BPP Hospitality Interview and professional conversation which was videoed for their students.

I was interviewed by their Deputy Dean, Paul Evans about my career and all things Customer Service related including my recent book ‘Star Quality Experience – The Hotelier’s Guide to Creating Memorable Guest Journeys’ where I explain about the 7 Rs to creating memorable guest experiences.

The interview covers the following areas:

  • Introduction to my background and interest in hospitality – you may be interested to know that both Paul and myself experienced working in hospitality down in Torquay, South Devon earlier in our careers.
  • I reveal why I wrote my second book ‘Star Quality Experience’ and I explain my vision for our industry.
  • We look at how customer service has changed over the past 10 years, from uniform hotel rooms through to wow interiors and how it is no longer about customer service but more about guest experiences as our guests get more adventurous.
  • We discuss the impact of social media and how Trip Advisor is a key ally to have.
  • We examine how customer service impacts brand loyalty as people love to collect things and get rewarded for it.
